Anger at club late opening bid
A MICHELIN-rated restaurant in Sheffield has applied to extend its opening hours but councillors are likely to throw out the request after residents objected.

Sharrow Vale Road will be closed from Hunter's Bar to Cowlishaw Road, with stalls lining the road, local specialist shops open and activities such as face painting to keep the kids amused.

Community Involvement Strategy
Dear Colleague,
I have great pleasure in writing to inform you about our new Community Involvement Strategy that we are launching for consultation.
We want to make sure everyone in Sheffield has a voice and greater control over the decisions that affect them. The Community Involvement Strategy supports our aim of making sure we listen to local people.
There are numerous examples of good work and excellent practice that have already taken place with the Council, partners and local people sharing ideas to make improvements.
Now we want to build on this and do more. We want to be more open and transparent in the way decisions are made and we want to empower local people to be part of the process.
We are currently holding a comprehensive round of consultations to get a wide range of views and comments. We really want to hear your views about whether the actions set out in the Strategy are the right ones to take.
As an organisation representing the sector, we hope that you will help to cascade information about the Strategy to your members and encourage them to tell us their views.
The Strategy will be reviewed in light of the feedback received and will become a working document. It will underpin our involvement with local people and will be the way we work in future.
To download a copy of the Strategy, submit your comments or for more information please see www.sheffield.gov.uk/communityinvolvement
